In this video I make a comparison between the Ipod Classic 5.5 and 7th generation. The Ipod Classic 7th generation is more modern and is thinner with more stoage, but I think the Ipod Classic 5.5 is better because of the dac. If you care about sound quality, you should definitely get the Ipod Classic 5.5.

In this video, I unbox and walk through my second upgraded iPod Classic 7th Gen — this one with a 512GB SDXC setup (2x256GB cards) and room to grow — there are still two open slots. It’s also got a 3000mAh battery, a purple front, a rainbow back, and is surprisingly light and completely silent thanks to the flash storage.

I talk about:
- Why I brought these old iPods back to life
- The exact upgrades on this one (3000mAh battery, SDXC with 2x256GB, 2 open slots)
- My first upgraded iPod (blue front/back, 1TB via 4x256GB SDXC, same 3000mAh battery)

Modding an iPod is easier than ever, and you have more options than ever - is what I thought before modding this iPod Mini. Apple has slowly pulled support from MacOS for iPods, and it's becoming harder to keep these alive and synced to your library. I ran into a major problem trying to sync this to my Apple Silicon Mac.

I did find the solution, it's not pretty, but we do have a (mostly) working iPod Mini with flash storage. And surprise, happy birthday Jerome!

What It’s Like Using an iPod in 2025?

It was November 2005, and the iPod Mini changed how we listened to music. It's the Nano's predecessor, and a smaller, more compact version of the Classic iPod.

In 2025, I found myself holding one for the very first time. It definitely brought back memories I didn’t even know I missed.

I never owned this model back in the 2000s, but I did have an iPod Nano and eventually got my hands on an iPod Touch that carried me through high school and beyond. They were my companions for studying, commuting, discovering new bands, and even loading up music the old way.

Fast forward to today, I picked up this iPod Mini from 2005 — and to my surprise, it still makes a lot of sense to use one in 2025.

This video is about what it’s like to return to the iPod era, why I decided to get one, and why it might still be worth your time now.

The very first iPod I ever held was a blue iPod mini — back in 2004, when iTunes was new and 1,000 songs in your pocket felt like a miracle.

20 years later, that exact iPod — my friend’s original — found its way back to me.
